Two dark object with 7ft long exhaust tracked by radar. Explanation: Mirage.

Two control tower operators and an observer at the south end of the runway saw two dark oblong table-latter shaped objects with seven feet long exhaust at about 1,200-1,500 feet height fly east to west, tracked by RAPCON radar at a distance of two miles, make a turn to the southwest when they disappeared.

Objects were tracked by radar and sighted visually.

Two oblong objects were observed by three military witnesses and radar at an airfield for under 15 minutes (Warren).

Hynek quotes the two airport tower operators and a third airman on duty at the alert pad at the end of the runway:

two oblong-shaped devices having the appearance of a table platter…that morning the weather was clear and cool, and the visibility was excellent … I wish now that I had taken more pictures as it moved ground-ward in a controlled approach, but I was anxious to see it with the naked eye rather than through the viewfinder.

Hynek rating: RV: Radar-Visual UFO reports
Vallee rating: MA2: MA1 plus any physical effects caused by the UFO.
Vallee reliability rating: 322: Reliable source, firsthand; site visited by persons familiar with the phenomena; natural explanation requires major alteration of one parameter.
