Large bright red luminous object.
Carl Wood and Charles Hawthorne saw a large (100 feet wide, 20 feet high) bright red luminous object with small windows and yellow lights 100 feet away in a field. Object had small openings, emitted a humming or whirring noise, seemingly from the outside, and a grinding noise from inside. One yellow-red star was observed by two witnesses for one hour (Hawthorne, Charles; Wood, Carl). Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
