Pilots, radar, track orange circular object. Explanation: Mirage.
USAF pilots of three F-86's with 87th FI Sq, flying between Guthrie, Pennsylvania, and Parkersburg, near Lockbourne AFB, Ohio, saw an orange circular or crescent-shaped object moving erratically at Mach 1.5 (about 1,000 mph) with ground radar tracking. An object was tracked by radar and sighted visually. One orange ball was observed by three military witnesses and radar for over three minutes (Rhoades).
