Davis, and flight engineer Harold Raney, on a Paris-New York TWA Constellation heading SW, spotted "a large, white-colored disc-like object" overhead, occasionally lost behind overlying clouds. Flying into WSW headwinds at 300 mph, they concluded it could not be a balloon, and radioed Boston airport control tower, which said jets were scrambled and then saw the object at about 10,000 feet higher than their 10,000 foot altitude, but could not close with it.
