One red light turned white while wobbling. Radar tracked a stationary object. Explanation: Weather.
Second Lieutenant Agostino and an unidentified radar operator saw a red light turn white while wobbling. Radar tracked a stationary target that suddenly enlarged, then returned to previous size, possibly a disc rotating to present a wider reflective surface. An object was tracked by radar and sighted visually. One red saucer was observed by two male military witnesses and radar at an airfield for one minute (Agostino).
Ruppelt's account:
On June 19 radar at Goose AFB in Newfoundland picked up some odd targets. The targets came across the scope, suddenly enlarged, and then became smaller again. One unofficial comment was that the object was flat or disk-shaped, and that the radar target had gotten bigger because the disk had banked in flight to present a greater reflecting surface. ATIC's official comment was weather.
