Private pilot N. Manteris was flying a Navion aircraft (s/n N21424) at 4,000 feet 20 miles east of Battle Creek, Michigan. He saw a silver oval domed disc-shaped highly polished object closing at high speed on a collision course at about 3,000 feet, pass underneath his plane. He turned 180° to pursue but it was gone. No trail or vents, upper surface had an indentation for a crown or dome. An unusual object was sighted, that had unconventional appearance and aerobatic performance. One silver saucer, about 40 feet across, was observed in clear weather by one experienced male witness at an airport for three to five minutes (Manteris, N).
