Yellowish-white ball of light at about 45° elevation changing color to orange with trailing flame. Explanation: Meteor.
Holloman AFB Asst. Maintenance Officer Risley while driving saw a yellowish-white ball of light at about 45° elevation descending at a 60° angle, changing color to orange with trailing flame, to just above a mountain range where it leveled off becoming bright blue-green traveling 10° east until it dropped behind the mountain. AFOSI Summary: Time: 2215; Number of Observers: 2; Reliability: unknown; Area: Corona, New Mexico; Direction: from southwest to SE; Course: descending; Color: yellowish white orange blue gr.; Train: Yes; Duration: ten seconds; Sound: none; Shape: round ball shape; Size: same as cup 6" in diameter at arm's length; Speed: compared with fast jet fighter; Disappearance: disappeared. A green fireball was observed.One blue-green ball was observed by one experienced male military witness in a desert for over one minute.
