Brilliant white diamond-shaped object caused severe radio interference. Explanation: Balloon.
Lieutenant Mardell Ward, at the Army's UFO observation post, and two other posts sighted brilliant diamond-shaped object to the west moving northwest or northeast at 1,600 foot altitude slowly dropping. Severe radio interference during sighting, none afterward. (FOIA; Jan Aldrich; Loren Gross Jan-Jun 1949 Supp p. 80, erroneously put at Los Alamos) AFOSI Summary: Time: 2008 2017; Number of Observers: 1; Reliability: good; Area: Camp Hood, Texas; Direction: north and east; Altitude: 1600'; Color: reddish greenish white; Train: none; Duration: 9minutes; Sound: none; Shape: diamond; Size: two mils width; Speed: ten mils in nine minutes; Disappearance: dimmed and went out. Balloon-like object observed. One green-red ball was observed by over three witnesses and radar at a military facility for nine minutes (Mardell Ward).
