Sausage shaped object circles a plane. Explanation: Mirage.
USAF pilot of T-11 with 703rd Air Reserve Division saw a sausage-shaped object circle the plane in 360° and 180° turns over Sandberg Pass, 40 miles south of Bakersfield, Calif. One blimp-like object was observed by one military witness at a mountain for 42 seconds.
