Visual and airborne UFO sightings; six interceptions of objects tracked on airborne radar
USAF pilot First Lieutenant Oliver Hemphill Jr. and radar observer Second Lieutenant Barton Halter flying a P-61 "Black Widow" night fighter made six interceptions of the same or different objects tracked on airborne radar, only one seen visually. Dull or dark translucent object shaped like a dirigible with a flat bottom and clipped tail end. Speed varied from 200 to about 1,500 mph. Pilot tried to close on visual object, but it dove away fast. An object was tracked by radar and sighted visually by two witnesses and radar (Barton Halter; Oliver Hemphill).
