Pilot saw a tight formation of 5-6 white circular 3 ft objects. Explanation: Balloon.
AAF pilot Lieutenant E. B. Armstrong from Brook AAF, San Antonio, Texas, flying F-51 fighter at 6,000 feet saw a tight formation of 5-6 white circular three feet objects off his right wing heading 120° at 6,000 feet at 285 mph, 30 miles NW of Lake Mead. Balloon-like objects observed. Six discs were observed by one military witness in a warplane briefly (Lt E B Armstrong).
