Two police on night patrol. Ellipsoid, solid bright red, distinct shape, gave off pulsating red glow. UFO from west, made sudden stop, hovered few seconds, left turn, hovered, went straight up "like a shot."
A hovering object was observed. It departed by rapidly flying straight up until lost to sight. One red elliptical was observed in clear weather by two experienced male witnesses (as reported to the police) for a few minutes (Arboreen). No sound was heard. Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
