TWA 117 incident.
Huge red wheel passed TWA airliner. Approached from below and behind, overtaking aircraft. Moved rapidly away when pilot attempted closer approach. An object was observed from a car. One red-orange disc, about 40 feet across, was observed by more than three experienced witnesses in-flight for eight minutes (Adickes). Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: MA1: A UFO has been observed which travels in a discontinuous trajectory. i.e. vertical drops, maneuvers or loops.
