RAF incident. Radar-visual confirmation of large, metallic object; failed fighter intercept; near collision. Explanation: Stratospheric balloon of the "Moby Dick" program launched six days before from Holloman Air Base, New Mexico.

The object was tracked by radar and sighted visually. A white and rounded object was seen in the sky by thousands of citizens of the city. Great media coverage. It buzzed a witness.

One metallic object was observed by military witnesses at a military facility.
