Nautical UFO. Crews of 6 boats saw gray 60m tall cone hover 1m over sea for 20 minutes, then ascend vertically.
A hovering object was observed. It departed by rapidly flying straight up until lost to sight. One gray cone-shaped object, about 150 feet across, was observed in clear weather by 6,000 witnesses on the ocean for 20 minutes (Gomez). Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
