11 November 1949 Night Hormuz Straits, Persian Gulf 
Nautical UFO, unidentified submarine object. USN commander, others, see "light wheel" in water. Explanation: Natural.
An object was sighted that had an appearance and performance beyond the capability of known earthly aircraft. One wheel, about 1000 feet across, was observed in clear weather by two experienced male military witnesses in a warship (Bodler). Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
