In Mid- 1945 Dusk Usat Delarof, Alaska, USA 
Nautical UFO, featureless sphere rises out of sea one mile from US Army transport ship, 200 feet diameter, straight up, then level flight, circled ship three times, no sound, three flashes as moving rapidly to the southwest .
An object was sighted that had an appearance and performance beyond the capability of known earthly aircraft. One dark ball, about 300 feet across, was observed by several male military witnesses on the ocean for a few seconds (Crawford; Delarof). No sound was heard. Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
