Metallic (gray and rust) sphere, with protubering ridge on top, shape of observatory/Roman helmet. Fish-like fin near middle on one side. 6-8' diameter. 60 mph, under 100 feet altitude.
An object was sighted that had an appearance and performance beyond the capability of known earthly aircraft. One red-orange ball, about 10 feet across, around 300 feet away, was observed in clear weather by one male 49-year-old witness in the suburbs for 12 seconds. No sound was heard. Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
