Scoutmaster incident. Explanation: Hoax.
Lasting physiological effects: Scoutmaster Sonny Desverger burned by UFO in palmetto thicket when hit by red beam. Arms, hands, inside nasal passage burned, hair singed. Lost consciousness. Reported encounter with inhuman beings involving radiation effects. One dark gray disc, about 40 feet across, was observed by one experienced male witness in a rural area for five minutes (Desvergers, S). One dwarf was seen. Hynek rating: CE2: Close Encounters of the Second Kind Vallee rating: CE5: CE4 which results in permanent psychological injuries or death. Vallee reliability rating: 342: Reliable source, firsthand; site visit by a skilled analyst; natural explanation requires major alteration of one parameter.
