27 October 1958 : Union Dale, Pennsylvania, USA 
Large gray cigar with a tail assembly flew at treetop level over Union Dale, Pennsylvania making a strong "swishing" sound.
An object was sighted that had an appearance and performance beyond the capability of known earthly aircraft. One gray cigar-shaped object was observed (Luther). A swishing sound was heard. Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
