In November 1980 : Macapa, Aragari River, Brazil 
70 people at ferry crossing watch solid, cloud shaped UFO emerge from river, hover 5-6 m altitude for four minutes, then proceed at moderate speed toward ocean. Passed within 30m of one witness.
An object was sighted that had an appearance and performance beyond the capability of known earthly aircraft. One cloud-like object, about 20 feet across, about fifty feet away, was observed by 70 witnesses on a river for over four minutes (Silveira). Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
