28 March 1974 Daytime Togoland, Ivory Coast 
At seaside couple sighted approaching cylindrical UFO just above water. It stopped 500 feet away and giant waves washed over them. UFO directed light beams on them. Waters underneath parted in deep trough
An object was observed. Gravity effects were noted. One multi-colored cylinder, about 80 feet across, around 500 feet away, was observed in clear weather by two witnesses, a married couple, on the shore for 20 minutes (Weislau, A). A noise was heard. Hynek rating: CE2: Close Encounters of the Second Kind Vallee rating: CE5: CE4 which results in permanent psychological injuries or death. Vallee reliability rating: 233: Reliable source,secondhand; site visit by a reliable investigator with some experience; natural explanation requires major alteration of several parameters.
