18 August 1981 Around 2200 Sandstone, Minnesota, USA 
Mother and three kids see 25' octagon hover 100 feet over driveway, silent, red and green lights flash.
An object was sighted that had an appearance and performance beyond the capability of known earthly aircraft. One multi-colored polygonal object, about 40 feet across, around 100 feet away, was observed by four witnesses in a yard for over one minute (Schmidt). No sound was heard. Hynek rating: CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind Vallee rating: CE1: UFO comes within 500 feet of the witness, but no after effects are suffered by the witness or the surrounding area.
