7 January 1948 13:35 - Fort Knox, Kentucky, USA -   Capt. Thomas Mantell died chasing a metallic object in his F-51 fighter. Official explanation: Skyhook stratospheric balloon launched from Camp Ripley, Minnesota, the day before.

9 January 1948 23:50 - Cartersville, Georgia, USA -   A blue circular flame pass the plane, turn, then blink out. Explanation: Meteor.

11 January 1948 16:30 - Hartford, Connecticut, USA -   Pilot USAF Capt. Helton and copilot Pargoe in transport plane saw fast moving disc with bluish center and red edges dive at 45° angle to the E. Explanation: Meteor.

5 April 1948 15:00 - Holloman AFB, New Mexico, USA -   Team watches 35 meter disc executing a series of violent turns and maneuvers

18 April 1948 - x, Iceland -   North Atlantic between Iceland and Greenland. Explanation: Birds.

In Mid- 1948 - Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada -   Multiple radars USAF and RCAF. UFO at 60,000 feet speed 9000 mph

24 July 1948 - Blackstone, UK -   Unusual meteor traveling in a southerly direction

25 July 1948 02:45 - Montgomery, Alabama, USA -   DC-3 crew reports object the shape of a B-29 fuselage. The underside had a "deep blue glow." There were "two rows of windows from which bright lights glowed," and a "50-foot trail of orange-red flame"

1 October 1948 09:07 - Fargo, North Dakota, USA -   Gorman Dogfight: P-51 pilot and a six-inch-diamter UFO play cat-and-mouse in the sky. Explanation: natural phenomenon.

15 October 1948 23:05 - Kyushu, Japan -   Crew incident.

15 October 1948 23:05 - Fukuoka, Japan -   Visual and airborne UFO sightings; six interceptions of objects tracked on airborne radar

31 October 1948 - Goose Bay Afb, Labrador, Canada -   An object was tracked by radar. One object was observed by military radar at an airfield. Explanation: Mirage.

1 November 1948 - Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada -   UFO tracked by Army radar moving at a high rate of speed 600 mph. Explanation: Mirage.

6 November 1948 - Wakkanai, Japan -   Radar tracking of two maneuvering UFOs in "dogfight.". Explanation: Aircraft.

6 November 1948 - Japan -   Ground sighting of UFO

23 November 1948 - Munich, Germany -   Furstenfeldbruck AFB reddish star-like object

23 November 1948 22:00 - Furstenfeldbruck Afb, Germany -   F-80 incident. Explanation: Balloon.

In 1949 - -   Ghost lights were observed by a C-47 crew. Two metallic objects were observed by two military witnesses on the ocean for 30 minutes.

In 1949 - Bermuda Triangle, Bermuda -   USAF Weather RB-29 incident.

5 December 1948 21:05 - Las Vegas, New Mexico, USA -   Air Force and commercial pilots observe green gireballs from the air.
